Here's hoping for more days like today.....
There's quite a few photos for this blog so I won't bore you with my pretty lame writing skills. Instead I'll start by taking you back to last Thursday afternoon.....
Having watched the forecast change about ten times last week, it was good to see it finally settle. Showing what looked to be a decent ground swell backed with winds of the offshore variety. The next three days was set up, and maybe just maybe the sun would come out too..
This session for me was all about this super clean back loop by Rob. You can't really see how close he is jumping to the rocks but I can assure you he's close and that reef is pure hell - no flat slabs here, just sharp pointy rock.

There was some good size waves coming through and Rob was sailing well. So well in fact that I didn't want to do what I did the day before and miss all the big jumps / moves by trying to set up Tane ( the dog ) a nice seat on my camera bag. I think I came home with a top turn ;)
Here's a few more from that session..

Nice to see Jeremy from Jamie Knox Watersports taking to the air.

Ummmmmmmm. Don't wipe out there.

Now there's two ways of getting out the back here, One doesn't work.....

You can jump straight over it.......

Or you can try go through it.... Sorry Jeremy - check the spray.

Nice end to the session. This jump is long. The take off was right in the bottom corner of the frame.
So Friday came and so did the crowds. The swell was at its peak and the other side of the peninsula was lined up. Again offshore winds grazed the tide.
I drove over in the morning to meet up with a friend from Waterford. He ended up doing the same and finding somewhere a little less packed for the afternoon session.
Here's a couple of Kevin Doyle. Not the best of shots but gives you an idea of what it was like. This bloke has such a nice style. I can't wait to get it from the water.

As I was already over that side I decided to take a spin to have a look at this wave I have had my eye on for the last while. I knew there would be a window in the wind on Saturday that might just let us in..
Saturday morning started off with an open ocean swim at one of the usual haunts. With only a few mates out and the sun cracking the stones it was a nice way to start the day....

Simon coming off the top.

Rob deciding to swim back.

Sweet.

.

Rob looking for the sail and boom ;)

The wrong way to swim back in ;)
Saturday afternoon was spent checking out what I had hoped was a wave. I can't post any with background out of respect to the place but here it is...

One lump or two ??

One thing I will say is it has potential........
